What Are Ten Frames?
Ten frames are special grids that help us count and understand numbers.
Each ten frame has 10 boxes (2 rows of 5). When we fill them, we can see numbers as groups which makes counting easier! For numbers bigger than 10, we just add more ten frames.
How to Count on Ten Frames
1️⃣ Look at the first ten frame and count all the filled boxes
2️⃣ Add 10 for each complete ten frame you see
3️⃣ Count the extra boxes in the last ten frame
Let's Practice Together!

Parent Tips 🌟
- Make it real: Use egg cartons (cut to 10 sections) as physical ten frames with small objects like buttons or beans.
- Play games: Say a number and have your child show it on ten frames as fast as they can - make it a fun race!
- Connect to daily life: Point out groups of 10 in everyday situations (10 fingers, 10 toes, 10 cookies in a package).
